UPS wins 2013 Corporate Citizenship Film Festival Award

In a red carpet moment at the 2013 International Corporate Citizenship Conference, UPS was announced as the winner of the 5th Annual Corporate Citizenship Film Festival Award.

The winning video tells the story of the company’s partnership with the Boys and Girls Clubs of America in the UPS Road Code program through which volunteer UPS drivers and employees teach teens about the dangers of distracted driving and give them tools to spread safe-driving advice.

Conference speakers share stories of how companies can make a difference

A theme emerged from the 2013 International Corporate Citizenship Conference general sessions of the many ways companies are making a difference in business, in communities and in society. Center for Corporate Citizenship Executive Director Katherine V. Smith opened the day by reminding attendees that it was Earth Day, a time when all sectors and people recognize how they can make a difference in the environmental sustainability of the planet and eco-system we all share.

Corporate citizenship leaders convene in Boston to design opportunities together

The 2013 International Corporate Citizenship Conference kicked off in Boston with an opening reception hosted by UPS and buzzing with energy. Lynnette McIntire, UPS Director of Corporate Reputation Management and Jerald Barnes, Global Region/Districts Grant Manager of the UPS Foundation, welcomed everyone to the conference. McIntire encouraged first-time attendees especially to embrace the network building that takes place and to share their experiences with the challenges they all face in “a very safe place, a very honest place.”

Sustainability reporting on the rise in U.S. but external assurance lags

A report released recently by the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) Focal Point USA, “Trends in External Assurance of Sustainability Reports: Spotlight on the USA”, found that while sustainability reporting in the United States continues to grow, corporate reporters in the U.S. are less likely to obtain third party assurance as their global peers. In the United States, 10 percent (26 out of 269 reporters) of GRI framework sustainability reports obtained external assurance in 2011. The international percentage is much higher at 38 percent.

Voters select finalists in 2013 Corporate Citizenship Film Festival
